Privacy Policy
Wave: Ride Out the Urge · Effective November 2, 2026
Short version: Wave collects nothing. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. Everything you put into Wave stays on your phone, encrypted.
What Wave stores, and where
Wave keeps your habits, messages (text, voice, video, photos and stories), rides, slips and settings only on your device, in an encrypted database and encrypted media files. The encryption keys are kept in your device's Keychain. The developer cannot see, access or recover any of it.
What Wave sends
Nothing. Wave makes no network requests. It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs, and it does not share data with anyone.
Backups
Wave's data folder is excluded from iCloud and computer backups, so your data does not leave the device that way either. This also means deleting the app, or using Settings → Erase everything, permanently removes your data.
Permissions
- Microphone and camera: only to record messages you choose to record.
- Photos: only the photos or videos you pick, for story backgrounds or messages.
- Face ID / Touch ID: optional, to unlock Wave. Your biometric data never reaches Wave; iOS handles it.
- Notifications: optional, for the "check in again in 5 minutes" reminder. They never mention your habits.
Phone calls to support lines
If you tap a crisis line, Wave hands the number to your phone's dialer. Wave does not record or report that you called.
Children
Wave is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Wave will never start collecting your data without a new version of the app and a clear notice.
